Our Story

Dakota Church

We are a small bilingual church on the west side of Tucson known as Dakota because we are located on Dakota Street. We are a bible based, Jesus name church that prays, study the word, worships, and we even still kneel down at the altar. We baptize in Jesus name is a small old fashion baptism tank located outside of the front door. We are not fancy or large in numbers but many people were rooted from our church, many people found the truth at our church, and most importantly, many people fall in love with Jesus at our church. Some of the best prayer warriors, bible educators, and faithful people of God can be found here. So if you are looking for a church to visit, please feel free to stop by.

Keeping the Apostolic Spirit Alive

What we believe . . .

THE SCRIPTURES: The Bible is the inspired word of God, infallible in it’s original writing. (II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:21)


The Godhead: The Lord our God is one Lord (Deuteronomy 6:4). He is the everlasting, eternal God, infinite in power, Holy in nature, attributes and purpose. He is absolute deity! This one true God has manifested Himself as Father in creation, Son in redemption and Holy Spirit in the re-generation of the Church which is His mystical body.


God is not a trinity: (John 1:1 and Colossians 1:15)


The Supreme Name of God is Jesus Christ the Lord: (Philippians 2:9-11)


New Covenant: God took away the first covenant in order that He may establish the second covenant. (Hebrews 8:6-10, Hebrews 10:9). Under the new covenant, in the present dispensation, none of the statues pertaining to the Mosaic Law are binding. (Romans 7:6, Romans 10:4, Luke 16:16)


Repentance and Baptism: Repentance and faith toward God are the first steps for the sinner, as there is only one entrance into the Spiritual Body of Christ, which is His church. (Ephesians 1:22-23, Luke 24: 45-47, Acts 2: 37-38)

Water baptism is therefore administered by immersion in water and only administered in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 2:38, Acts 8:16, Acts 10:48, I Corinthians 1:13 and Colossians 3:17)


The Holy Spirit: in the life of the believer is manifest by the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues (Acts 2:38-39) and the Holy Spirit is manifested in the life of the believer by their fruit.


Holiness: We are to practice a life that is separate from all type of sin and ungodliness. Holiness is a pre-requisite of the believer! 

(Hebrews 12:14, II Corinthians 7:1, I Thessalonians 4:7, I Peter 1:15-16). We believe and practice the highest standards of moral living. Therefore we do not accept and tolerate any teaching that might lead to immoral conduct.


Foot Washing: Since Jesus did not wash the disciples feet in public, in the temple or the synagogue and since there is no scriptural reference to it other than as a common custom, we believe he was giving us an example of love and humility and nothing more. (Luke 22:24-27, John 13: 12-15 and I Timothy 5:10) Therefore we do not support nor teach the doctrine of foot washing in public as a church practice or an ordinance.


Communion: Whereas the word communion expresses and means fellowship, we participate and take communion with God through the Holy Spirit as typified in the shadow of the Old Testament and taught by Jesus and the Apostles in the New Testament. In order to have this true fellowship with God we must be partakers of the flesh and blood of Jesus through the spirit, who governs all the affairs of the spiritual body of Jesus Christ which is His Church. Knowing that there is no spiritual life outside of Him we believe that the literal emblems of bread and the fruit of the vine used at the Passover were shadows of good things to come. As they partook of these emblems Jesus said “this is my body which is broken for you”. He also said “this is my blood which is shed for the remission of sins”. (Matthew 26:17-29, Mark 14:12-25, Luke 22:1-20, I Corinthians 11:23-27) Jesus Christ, therefore, is our Passover! (I Corinthians 5:7) We believe that the Passover instituted at the time of the exodus of Israel from Egypt, Exodus chapter 12 , is now fulfilled in the Kingdom of God: “For the Kingdom of God is NOT meat nor drink but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost”. (Romans 14:7)


When we are baptized into the one body by the Holy Spirit (I Corinthians 12: 13) we are made to drink of the one spirit. Also, when the cup of blessing which we bless is the communion (fellowship) of the blood of Jesus Christ and the bread which we break is the communion (fellowship) of the body of Jesus Christ. (I Corinthians 10:16) “For we being many, are one bread, and one body; for we are all partakers of that one bread. (I Corinthians 10:17)


Hence, we believe that partaking of the flesh and the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ is through the Spirit as referred to by the Holy Scriptures. (John 6: 48-63) We therefore believe that partaking of natural or literal elements is NOT essential to our salvation, and therefore, refrain from partaking thereof; but with due Christian respect and common courtesy we respect those that may hold a different and opposing view.


We believe that the Church: which is the mystical body of Jesus Christ, is ONE and belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ.

(Matthew 16:16 and Acts 20:26)


The Church: of the Lord Jesus Christ is NOT a religious organization but is the mystical body of the Lord Jesus Christ.

(I Corinthians 12:27, II Timothy 2:19)


Finally: we believe in the seven principles of Doctrine as delineated in Hebrews 6:1-2 with all their connections throughout the New Testament as revealed by the Holy Spirit from time to time.
